Sony Pictures Classics has acquired worldwide rights to I Saw the Light, the story of the legendary country music singer Hank Williams.

The film chronicles Williams’ meteoric rise to fame and its ultimately tragic effect on his health and personal life. During brief life, he created one of the most enduring bodies of work in American music.

Written and directed by Marc Abraham, I Saw the Light stars Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Olsen,Bradley Whitford, David Krumholtz and Cherry Jones. Based on Colin Escott’s biography of Williams, the film was produced by RatPac Entertainment’s Brett Ratner and Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert alongside G. Marq Roswell and Abraham. James Packer of RatPac and Jason Cloth of Creative Wealth Media Finance executive produced.

No release date has been set yet, but film will likely receive an awards-season run.

“All of us at RatPac Entertainment are thrilled that Sony Pictures Classics is distributing I Saw the Light, as Michael and Tom are unparalleled in their marketing and distribution expertise,” Ratner said. “This film is a perfect fit, especially given their passion for country music, and we could not be in better hands.”

Added Abraham: “For over 20 years, Sony Classics has been making, distributing and supporting independent films and filmmakers. If you want your film presented to the right audiences with fervor and in the company of previous artists from Kurosawa to Bergman and countless others, you wish upon a star for [Sony Pictures Classics co-presidents] Tom Bernard and Michael Barkerto be in your corner.”

Elizabeth Olsen For Kiehl’s

Every Earth Month, Kiehl’s solicits celebrity fans to redesign product packaging for a good cause. This year, Elizabeth Olsen and Maggie Q remixed the Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado jar. One-hundred percent of the net profits for each limited-edition cream will go to Recycle Across America, an organization that creates easy environmental solutions in the US. The charitable eye creams are double the size of the classic formula and will sell for $47 this April.
