The Weinstein Co. has dropped out as distributor of the Jeremy Renner starrer Wind River, according to sources. The move comes ahead of the Taylor Sheridan-helmed drama’s world premiere this month at the Sundance Film Festival. TWC had plunked down mid-seven figures for the film in May at the Cannes Film Festival as a prebuy. The fact that TWC bowed out has raised eyebrows given that Sheridan’s 2016 film Hell or High Water has been both a critical and commercial success and is currently in the mix for a best picture Oscar nomination. Wind River is said to be a second but unrelated installment in a trio of crime films from Sheridan, with Hell or High Water being the first.

Sources say negotiations for the pic lagged over the past few months and finally fell completely apart in late December and that CAA, which is repping the film, has included it on its slate of Sundance films that are available for sale for U.S. rights that it distributed to buyers. The news, which began trickling through the buyer community late last week, was met with excitement given that Hell or High Water is one of the biggest indie box-office successes of 2016.

Wind River, which also stars Elizabeth Olsen and Jon Bernthal, follows a Fish and Game Department employee (Jeremy Renner) who stumbles upon the body of a teenage girl frozen in the desolate wilderness. He is enlisted by a rookie FBI agent (Olsen) unfamiliar with the terrain to help find those responsible.

Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road (Sicario), Peter Berg’s Film 44 (Lone Survivor) and Matthew George’s Savvy Media Holdings (LBJ) produced the film. Savvy financed Wind River along with Acacia Entertainment and Wayne Rogers’ Synergics Films. Star Thrower Entertainment executive produced along with Riverstone Pictures and The Fyzz Facility.

2016 is coming to an end and inspired by my friends Gabby from and Luciana from, i decided to put together a YEAR IN REVIEW post to summarize Elizabeth’s career on this year.

The year began with rumors that Elizabeth would be portraying Michelle Tanner, a beloved character from Full House that was previously played by her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, in the series reboot Fuller House. The rumor was quickly shut down by the shows producers and cast and there was no word from Elizabeth nor her team on the matter until USA Today and E! News asked her personally in March.

Elizabeth’s first public appearance of the year was on January 12, when she attended Stella McCartney Autumn 2016 Presentation, wearing a rose-colored dress. On the same week, it was announced by Deadline that she would be starring in Wind River, alongside her The Avengers co-star Jeremy Renner.

On February 23, Elizabeth attended the Elle Style Awards where she won the award for Actress of the Year.

March kicked off with Elizabeth promoting I Saw The Light, the Hank Williams biopic, where she plays Hank Williams (Tom Hiddleston) wife Audrey Williams. She was interviewed by multiple entertainment magazines and websites where she spoke about being terrified of singing in the movie, her hopes in defending Audrey, and the chemistry with Tom Hiddleston. Elizabeth made an appearance on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live on March 21 to talk about the movie (and also, how much she loves Harrison Ford). The movie premiere took place in Los Angeles, on March 22, and featured a very goofy Elizabeth and Tom on the red carpet.

The movie sadly didn’t do well as expected, receiving mixed to negative reviews from critics. It received 21% of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with an average rating of 4.7/10. The site’s critics consensus said “I Saw the Light boasts a terrifically talented cast, but their performances aren’t enough to enliven an unfocused biopic that never comes close to capturing its subject’s timeless appeal.”

On April 29 I Saw The Light was released on Digital HD, followed by its DVD and Blu-Ray release on July 5.

Elizabeth joined Emily VanCamp in an exclusive introduction video for Marvel’s latest partnership National Academy of Sciences’ Science & Entertainment Exchange. “Girls Reforming the Future Challenge“, a program which is geared toward females (ages 15-18 and in grades 10-12) who are interested in science, technology, engineering or mathematics projects and share the same goals as the Avengers on screen. The introduction video was released on March, with the promise that one young lady would be chosen for an internship at Marvel Studios by the end of the program. “I’m really excited to meet these exceptional young women who have STEM backgrounds and who maybe also want to be part of more of a creative- and science-based world.” were some of the words shared by Elizabeth on the video.

Captain America: Civil War press tour kicked off strong in early April, right after Elizabeth wrapped up I Saw The Light promotion. The first interview was released by Entertainment Tonight, where Elizabeth teased Scarlet Witch’s relationship with Vision, and funny enough– The video was filmed while she was still promoting the Hank Williams biopic. The first promotional event Elizabeth attended was Press Conference in Los Angeles, followed by the Photocall in London. Sadly, Elizabeth didn’t attend the movie’s World Premiere, but she did however attend the European premiere (looking absolutely stunning)! Her next appearance while promoting the movie was at AOL Build Speaker Series with the Russo Brothers, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany and Sebastian Stan, followed by the New York screening of the movie on May 4th. She also visited a couple of radio stations and talk shows while promoting the movie such as BBC Radio 1,  Alan Carr: Chatty Man, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning AmericaLate Night with Seth MeyersThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, ending with The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The third installment of Marvel’s Captain America received 90% of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with an average rating of 7.6/10. The movie grossed $408.1 million in the U.S. and Canada and $745.2 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1.153 billion.

On May 12, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Elizabeth would be joining Patricia Clarkson and Chris Cooper in Isabel Coixet’s Broadway-set drama Light on Broken Glass. Principal photography was set to begin in late October in New York. It was also reported by The Hollywood Reporter that The Weinstein Co. was in negotiations to acquire North American rights Wind River, during Cannes Film Festival.

August brought us news on Elizabeth’s career and the upcoming movies she’d starring in. It was reported on August 1st by The Hollywood Reporter that Elizabeth would be joining Aubrey Plaza in Ingrid Goes West, a dark comedy about a young woman (Plaza) who becomes obsessed with a social media star (Olsen). The trailer for the fourth season of Drunk History announced that Elizabeth would be making a special appearance on the series. And by the end of the month, it was reported that Elizabeth would be joining Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis in the drama Kodachrome, which tells story of a record label boss who embarks on a road trip across the U.S. in order to fulfill his father’s dying wish and have a roll of Kodachrome film developed, only to find there’s just one remaining shop accepting them. The movie was set to start filming on August 28, in Toronto.

On September 2 Captain America: Civil War was released on Digital HD, followed by its Blu-Ray, DVD and VOD release on September 13. The movie included special features, such as gag reel, deleted scenes, featurettes and more.

We got the first look at Elizabeth in Kodachrome in mid-November, followed by the announcement that Ingrid Goes West would be heading to Sundance Film Festival in 2017. On December 6, it was released the first photos of Elizabeth and Jeremy Renner in Wind River along with the news that the movie would be also making its way to Sundance Film Festival. The film festival runs from January 19-29 in Park City, Utah.

Elizabeth is currently filming Avengers: Infinity War, which is set to be released on May 4, 2018.

There is still no more news on Light on Broken Glass, other than Elizabeth will be playing Young Melody Harper. The adult version will be played by Patricia Clarkson. According to IMDB, the movie is under Pre-Production.

That’s it for 2016! We wish Elizabeth and her family all the best in this coming year. We also wish a Happy New Year to all our visitors that have been supporting us for quite a while now! Happy 2017!
